Free scores: 8 piano pieces

Conradin Kreutzer was born in 1780 in Thalmühle/Meßkirch and he died in Riga at the age of sixtynine. At seven years old he got his first music lessons from the church musician Johann Baptist Rieger. Some years later he studied oboe, clarinet and violin. As an young adult he worked as a singer, he played the piano, the organ, the clarinet and he wrote music. Kreutzer became a succesful composer of operas, who was also a gifted conductor. In 1811 he was appointed Court Music Director in Stuttgart.

His most famous opera is "Das Nachtlager von Granada" (1834). Kreutzer is regarded upon as a skilled opera composer. It is hardly known that he also wrote music for the piano. We managed to find an album with 8 pieces for piano, issued by Henry Litolff's Verlag. There's no opus number, but the pieces seem to belong together. This edition is a revised edition by Louis Winkler. We think an earlier edition was published by Kistner.

If you like the music of Carl Maria von Weber or Joseph Haydn, then you should give this music a try. Some pieces are at an intermediate playing level. The file is rather large though (3,12 MB). Download for free:
